Abstract

Densidad básica de madera de Pinus taeda L. Marion de diferentes edades, Misiones, Argentina. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar la densidad básica de Pinus taeda Lambert origen Marion de diferentes edades del norte de Misiones. En Misiones las plantaciones forestales abarcan 330.000 ha. Esta especie es una de las más cultivadas desde la década del 80. La densidad básica es uno de los índices más útiles que caracterizan a las maderas desde el punto de vista tecnológico, debido a la alta correlación que posee en la producción de pulpas y además con las propiedades mecánicas de las tablas. La densidad básica para la edad de 6 años fue 0,349 gr/cm3; a los 9 años de 0,356 gr/cm3 y a los 16 años 0,423 gr/cm3. En las tres edades se registró un aumento de la densidad desde la médula al exterior del árbol y una disminución de la densidad desde la base hacia el ápice. Los valores de densidad a los 6 y 9 años están en el límite de la clasificación de las maderas muy livianas a livianas, y los de 16 años en las de maderas livianas.
