Abstract

A indicação de implantes osseointegrados requer uma análise cuidadosa de vários fatores, entre eles a análise da quantidade e qualidade do tecido ósseo da área receptora. No plano cirúrgico podemos ter alguns acidentes anatômicos que impedem a instalação do implante. O acidente anatômico mais importante no sextante posterior da maxila é o seio maxilar. Nesta área frequentemente não existe altura óssea em quantidade suficiente para que se possam colocar implantes de maneira previsível. Para corrigirmos este defeito temos técnicas que visam adicionar, formar ou remodelar o osso do assoalho do seio maxilar. A técnica de levantamento de seio maxilar é um procedimento que visa elevar a membrana do assoalho do seio maxilar para uma posição mais orbital, separando-a das paredes ósseas alveolares e laterais, criando assim uma área subantral que será preenchida por um enxerto ósseo. Para que se tenha possibilidade palpável de sucesso, é necessário que a membrana sinusal seja refletida intacta. Uma vez executado este procedimento, implantes podem ser instalados simultaneamente ou postergados para uma segunda intervenção.
