Sorgo sacarino na produção de agroenergia

Abstract

O gênero Sorghum, relevante cultura no âmbito mundial, tem instigado diversos estudos no campo alimentício e de geração de energia. Nesse contexto, o seguinte trabalho buscará, por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica, contribuir para o entendimento da cultura do sorgo sacarino, evidenciando seu potencial como cultura energética. O sorgo do tipo sacarino, em especial (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), tem sido alvo de estudos como fonte alternativa de matéria-prima para a produção de bioenergia (etanol). O favorecimento da expansão da produção dessa espécie dá-se devido às suas características fisiológicas diferenciadas, como a alta eficiência fotossintética e adaptação a condições adversas, potencializadas pela expressão do vigor híbrido. Porém ainda faltam avanços em pesquisas para maximizar a inserção do sorgo sacarino nos diferentes sistemas de produção agrícola.
