Abstract

Descrição de evidências clínicas de pitiose cutânea, observadas em um eqüino, proveniente do município de Guaraniaçu, no sudoeste do Estado do Paraná. Esse animal apresentava uma única lesão na região abdominal, com característica ulcerativa e granulomatosa, e no centro dessas corais marinhos, denominadas de kunkers, rica em secreções semelhantes a sanguessugas. Os meios de diagnósticos basearam-se no exame clinico e histopatológico. Equine pythiosis in the Parana state, Brazil - A case report Abstract The aim of this paper is a case report on clinical evidencies of a cutaneous pythiosis found in a horse from Guaraniaçu, Southwest of the State of Paraná. The animal had just one isolated lesion on the abdominal region, with a granuloma and an ulcerative aspect displaying at the center coral-like structures or kunkers, similar to leeches, rich in secretions. The diagnosis of pythiosis was based on the clinical and histopathological examinations.
