Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a importância da inserção da política de cotas na inclusão de afrodescendentes, pardos e negros nas universidades públicas brasileiras por meio de uma ação afirmativa que, realmente, vá fazer a diferença na vida destes grupos que, por muito tempo, foram relegados ao segundo plano. Esses grupos foram excluídos de um contexto que melhorasse suas vidas e que os levassem a superar barreiras que foram historicamente postas desde os tempos da escravidão. O povo negro que aqui chegou, foi submetido a uma forma de vida precária: na pobreza e sem perspectivas de futuro. Futuro que, por sua vez, só seria possível conseguir através dos estudos, e a faculdade é uma ponte para conseguir galgar degraus mais altos. Esse estudo visa analisar se a política de cotas cumpre fielmente seu papel inclusivo, tornando-se aqui uma ação afirmativa a curto e longo prazo com consequências positivas a todos os afrodescendentes.
