Implicaciones ambientales y sociales del aumento del nivel del mar en el contexto del cambio climático global

Abstract

El aumento del nivel del mar representa uno de los efectos más visibles y preocupantes del cambio climático, y en Nicaragua ya constituye una realidad que afecta tanto a los ecosistemas como a las comunidades costeras. Este artículo, basado en una investigación documental, analiza las principales implicaciones ambientales y sociales de este fenómeno, considerando la erosión costera, la intrusión salina, la pérdida de manglares y los desplazamientos poblacionales. La revisión de literatura académica y técnica revela que, aunque existen iniciativas locales de adaptación —como la restauración de manglares y los planes municipales de gestión de riesgo—, estas acciones resultan insuficientes frente a la magnitud del problema. Se resalta la necesidad de políticas públicas integrales y de cooperación internacional que fortalezcan la resiliencia comunitaria, al tiempo que se promueve la justicia climática para países altamente vulnerables como Nicaragua.
