O papel da vitamina D no sistema imunológico e suas implicações na imunidade inata e adquirida

Abstract

A resposta imune tem papel fundamental na defesa contra agentes infecciosos e se constitui no principal impedimento para a ocorrência de infecções disseminadas, habitualmente associadas a um alto índice de mortalidade. São vários os fatores capazes de modificar o comportamento do sistema imunitário tais como a idade, os fatores genéticos, metabólicos, ambientais, anatômicos, fisiológicos, nutricionais e microbiológicos e, dentre os nutricionais citamos a importância da Vitamina D. Estuda-se há longo tempo a participação dessa vitamina nos processos imunobiológicos e sabe-se que a mesma tem um papel fundamental em diversos processos fisiológicos, dentre eles o aumento da resposta inata, a regulação do ciclo celular e da apoptose, dentre outros. O presente estudo trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica com abordagem qualitativa, abrangendo o que há de mais atual na literatura visando discutir algumas formas da atuação da Vitamina D em relação ao sistema imunológico, assim como suas características, forma de ação e a necessidade da mesma como influência positiva sobre o sistema imune.
