Abstract

La complicación postoperatoria es un problema grave, difícil para el cirujano. Son factores de mal pronóstico (factores de riesgo): edad mayor de 65 años, números de cirugías (más de dos), peritonitis generalizada, desnutrición, shock, y falla orgánica múltiples. Los índices de gravedad (factores pronósticos), permiten cuantificar y predecir el riesgo de morbilidad y mortalidad según parámetros fisiológico analítico o clínico, su aplicación es una forma válida y rigurosa para medir la probabilidad de complicaciones y mortalidad postoperatoria. El objetivo es determinar los factores pronósticos (factores de riesgo) de mortalidad en pacientes con complicaciones postoperatorias. Resultados.- Con el propósito de determinar la morbilidad y mortalidad, se realizó un estudio retrospectivo y observacional con 184 pacientes intervenidos quirúrgicamente en el servicio de cirugía del hospital Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón. De los 184 expedientes revisados 62 pacientes (34%) necesitaron re intervención quirúrgica. La mortalidad general de los casos fue del 15% y la de los casos reintervenidos 9,7%.
