Cambio del sistema de manejo y alimentación extensivo por semi intensivo en ganado bovino de carne en el Ecuador

Abstract

La investigación se realizó en el Cantón Antonio Elizalde (Bucay), Provincia del Guayas, Ecuador; Suramérica. Los objetivos fueron medir la ganancia de peso en toretes de engorde de raza brahmán enteros y castrados en la fase de engorde o 300Kg, alimentados con pasto King grass picado, dieta y ración de alimento y manejo intensivo. Se utilizaron 20 toretes brahmán de 24 meses y 300Kg de P.V. divididos en cuatro grupos de 5 cada uno, 5 enteros y 5 castrados, se alimentaron solo con pasto King grass picado; 5 enteros y 5 castrados se alimentaron con pasto King grass picado y dieta concentrada, se empleó el método estadístico de diseño factorial al azar de 2x2. Los resultados determinaron ganancia de peso total promedio de 87,6 Kg equivalente a 0,545 Kg por U.A.(Unidad Animal), la ganancia diaria de peso (G.D.P.) entre el nacimiento y 24 meses fue de 0,362 Kg/ día. No hubo diferencia estadística entre los grupos en la ganancia de peso total entero y castrado alimentados con pasto King grass picado y dieta de alimento concentrado y entero alimentado solo con pasto King grass picado, los tres grupos fueron superiores; el grupo castrado alimentado solo con pasto King grass picado fue inferior 13 ,8 Kg equivalente a -15,7 %. Las propuestas generadas son: el sistema intensivo de manejo y alimentación con pasto King grass para aumentar la carga de I a 20 U.A ./Ha; No castrar, los machos enteros son más productivos que los castrados; Castrar y suplementar concentrados solo en los casos donde el mercado compense la diferencia por calidad de la carne.
