Eficacia inhibitoria del aceite esencial chamomilla y citrus en porphyromonas gingivalis

Abstract

La porphyromonas gingivalis es un patógeno periodontal que tiene la capacidad para evadir los mecanismos de defensa del huésped e invadir los tejidos periodontales, lo cual ocasiona alteraciones a nivel sistémico produciendo enfermedades crónicas perjudicando la calidad de vida del paciente. Desde hace algunos años, muchos agentes antimicrobianos se han probado para detener e inhibir su crecimiento, aunque estos poseen efectos secundarios, su uso diario a largo plazo no es indicado en la terapia periodontal. De tal manera, los estudios de antimicrobianos de origen natural es una prioridad para desarrollar nuevas alternativas para el tratamiento complementario y preventivo de la enfermedad periodontal. Objetivo: Determinar a través de estudios realizados la eficacia inhibitoria del aceite esencial manzanilla y citrus en porphyromonas gingivalis como tratamiento preventivo o complementario para las enfermedades periodontales. Metodología: Se realizó una búsqueda de un grupo de 200 artículos en los buscadores académicos, se verifico en la página de Scimago Journal and country Rank, quedando 20 artículos de muestra, que presentaron percentiles hasta de Q4, descartando aquellos artículos que no cumplían los criterios de inclusión y se verifico que el contenido de los artículos tenga impacto y relevancia con el análisis PICO. Resultados: El análisis y comparación de los aceites esenciales de citrus y chamomilla, si tienen diferencia significativa, ya que el primero tiene mejor eficacia inhibitoria sobre los patógenos periodontales; al mismo nivel que la clorhexidina, pero la diferencia es que el aceite esencial citrus no presenta efectos secundarios comparados con la sustancia coadyuvante clorhexidina.
