Abstract

Los estudios sobre ecología trófica permiten comprender las funciones que cumplen las especies y el impacto que podría tener su desaparición o disminución en el ecosistema. Se analizaron 155 estómagos de Ariopsis guatemalensis obtenidos del Estero Salado de Guayaquil, se determinó el índice de repleción, la importancia relativa de las presas (%IIR), la estrategia alimenticia (índice de Levins y método gráfico de Amundsen et al) y el nicho trófico (TROPH) para ambos sexos; las hembras fueron clasificadas en 4 intervalos de tallas para determinar la diferencia en la dieta. Las hembras presentaron el 83 % de los estómagos llenos, mientras que, en los machos el 73 % se encontraron vacíos por eventos de maduración gonadal e incubación oral. En total se identificaron 18 ítems presas, siendo Penaeus vannamei (35,3 %) y Goniopsis sp. (32 %) las presas más importantes. Para las hembras P.vannamei y Goniopsis sp fueron las presas de mayor importancia y en machos lo fueron Goniopsis sp. y huevos de decápodos. Las tallas en hembras demostraron similitud (r ≥ 0,58) en la dieta, siendo P. vannamei, Goniopsis sp. y Ocypodidae sp. las más importantes de manera general; las demás presas son consumidas proporcionalmente evitando la competencia intraespecífica. El método TROPH determinó que A. guatemalensis es una especie carnívora de segundo y tercer nivel trófico, con estrategia de alimentación mixta para ambos sexos, siendo las hembras especialistas para P. vannamei y Goniopsis sp. y en machos Goniopsis sp. y huevos de decápodos (Ba<0,6).
