The concept of taharah is one of the fundamental principles in Islam that has a close connection with the implementation of worship and daily life. Taharah is often narrowly understood only in a physical context, such as the outward cleanliness that is a requirement for the validity of prayer. However, taharah also has a deep inner dimension. One of the scholars who discussed this dimension deeply and comprehensively is al-Alusi in his Tafsir Ruh al-Ma'ani. This research uses the literature study method by collecting data from documentation sources, both primary and secondary. The data obtained is then analyzed using a descriptive approach, namely by collecting relevant information, presenting it systematically, and analyzing the data. The analysis is done by interpreting the verses of the Qur'an, revealing various aspects contained therein, and explaining the meanings that cover the verse. The results of this study are as follows 1) Taharah according to al-Alusi in Tafsir Ruh al-Ma'ani has two meanings in terms of hissiyyah and ma‘nawiyyah Every verse related to Taharah is classified based on one of the two meanings, or contains both at the same time. 2) Taharah synonyms qudsiyyah and tazkiyyah which have different meanings of attribution, qudsiyyah is attributed to Allah and tazkiyyah to the servant. 3) The benefits of taharah: a) it protects both the physical and the spiritual, b) it brings the love of Allah. 4) intermediary acts of worship to cleanse the soul include keeping ablution, prayer, charity, and zakat.
