Abstract

A shop in a small village in Aru, Pahalgam, located in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. A hundred years ago the state was a popular summer retreat for the British colonisers keen to escape the heat of Delhi, but nowadays travel advisories in place from many countries mean that few foreign tourists make it there.
