約10年にわたる山地積雪観測ネットワークによる積雪深および積雪重量の連続観測結果に基づき,最大積雪深から最大積雪重量を算定するための等価積雪密度の新たな実用式を提案した.これは,本州に限定されるが,最大積雪深が3mを超えると,従来のすべての設計指針に示された値より大きくなる.今後,多雪地の雪荷重を推定する場合は,用いる等価積雪密度に注意を払う必要がある.
