Densidad y estructura de tallas de Nerita scabricosta (Mollusca: Neritidae) en la zona intermareal de las islas del noroeste del Golfo de California, México

Abstract

Actualmente en el noroeste de México no existen estudios de densidad y tallas del caracol Nerita scabricosta, especie catalogada como un potencial recurso pesquero. Se analizó la densidad y tallas del gasterópodo N. scabricosta en la zona intermareal de ocho islas pertenecientes a las bahías de Mazatlán y Navachiste, Sinaloa, México. Por cada isla se contabilizaron los caracoles (50 m2) y se recolectaron al azar 25 organismos, se les registró la AN (mm) y PT (g). En la bahía de Mazatlán, la mayor densidad fue isla Venados (66,1 ind·m–2) y la menor en Lobos (2,9 ind·m–2), la media en AN fue 17,6 ± 5,1 mm y en PT 6,0 ± 4,8 g. En bahía Navachiste, la mayor densidad fue isla San Lucas (2,7 ind·m–2) y la menor El Metate (0,2 ind·m–2). La media en AN y PT, fue 26,1 ± 4,5 mm y 14,8 ± 6,2 g, respectivamente. La densidad de N. scabricosta fue mayor en islas de bahía Mazatlán (P=0,017), pero en promedio la talla y peso, fueron mayores en las islas de Navachiste (P=0,298). Además, la relación biométrica entre AN–PT de N. scabricosta indicó un crecimiento isométrico positivo.
