Abstract – Goiabeira-serrana (Acca sellowiana), has an unique flavor and characteristics of adaptability to soil and climatic conditions of Santa Catarina State (Brazil) what has raised different areas of research. However, even considering the potential of this species there is just a few orchards on a commercial scale in Brazil. In this context, initiatives have been designed to advance the knowledge about the species, in particular with regard to breeding. In this scenario, the manuscript aims to describe the genetic improvement strategies for Acca sellowiana developed in the State of Santa Catarina.
