This document reports upon an archaeological evaluation carried out in the Wincobank area of Sheffield (NGR SK3782 9075). The evaluation was prompted by proposals to construct up to 41 houses on open ground between Beacon Road and Sandstone Road. The site of the proposed development lies close to Wincobank hill fort. It is also on the line of the Roman Ridge, a substantial linear earthwork. Four trenches were excavated. No evidence of archaeological deposits was found and no finds were retained.
