Archaeological investigation via strip, map, and plan (SMP) evaluation. Consequently, an archaeological investigation was conducted over 20 days between 17th April and 12th May 2023, which comprised the full excavation of the SMP areas. In summary, the archaeological investigation has successfully addressed the aims set out in the Written Scheme of Investigation. It has provided a worthwhile opportunity to examine the boiler house and stair tower of a large cotton-spinning mill, which was established in the mid-19th century.
