This report sets out the results of an archaeological field evaluation undertaken by Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) on land at Clook Farm, Innertown, Stromness, Orkney prior to development. The works demonstrated the presence of extensive remains on site likely to be domestic and Viking/ Norse in character. They comprised of large midden or occupation deposits together with remnants of structural features. At least two ditches of indeterminate date were also exposed. The settlement remains appeared to cluster around the centre to southeast of the site with the ditches to the northeast. It is recommended that the proposed development avoids disturbing those parts of the Site demonstrated to contain archaeology, if this is not deemed possible, further mitigation is considered necessary.
