Strip, map and record excavation, targeted on the footprint of specific buildings visible on the historic mapping. the remains of blind back workers' houses along Chadderton Street, double depth dwellings with back yards and privies on Marshall Street and the cellar remains of former commercial properties on Oldham Road. This phase of occupation dated to the early 19th century and corresponds with the configuration of buildings shown on both Bancks' and Co's plan of 1831 and the Ordnance Survey map of 1850, though they may have also been present by Swire's plan of 1824. Later activity on the site comprised minor additions such as the installation of drainage and the repair or installation of a privy to the rear of a house along Marshall Street. Most of the buildings within the site were demolished in the early and mid-20th century.
