Birds are excellent environmental indicator. They are verysensitive to their habitat. If any changes occur in their habitat, they easily sense that. Changes in the bird populations are often the first indication of environmental problems. Food forbirds playsa vital role in the conservation aspect. The present investigations have been conducted in different waterbodies of Odisha to find out the commonly available birds and their foods. About 64 aquatic birds are recorded along with their foods. The present study highlights the importance of foods in the conservation of avian species.
