This article analyzes the deployment of military firefighters in humanitarian operations based on the performance of the Brazilian force in MINUSTAH, it seeks to understand the lessons learned from the group of firefighters sent to Haiti and how this performance contributed to the insertion of more Brazilian firefighters in international cooperation for peace. The hypothesis that guided the article was “the lessons learned in the work of Brazilian military firefighters in MINUSTAH promoted the intensification of the capabilities and performances of the Ministry of Defense, aiming to deploy more groups in humanitarian or peace operations”. The methodology is based on a bibliographical and descriptive research, based on the experiences of Brazilian military firefighters in activities following the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) doctrine.
