Resumen: La reflexión se centra en la necesidad de formación integral en la universidad, que dote al egresado de los elementos necesarios para lograr la empleabilidad en el mercado laboral. Ello significa optar por puestos profesionales para los que se encuentre calificado, conservarlo y lograr un desarrollo humano pleno. El currículo propuesto por las universidades, basado en competencias, no ha sido suficiente para obtener ese logro, aunque en las ingenierías cada vez más este es el giro formativo, en otras disciplinas de ciencias sociales la brecha entre formación universitaria y necesidades del empleador es cada vez más amplio. Se asume que la responsabilidad de la formación integral es compartida entre todos los actores educativos.
