Abstract

Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva) Phlebotomus longipalpis Lutz & Neiva, 1912: 89 (male, female). Type locality: Brazil. Lutzomyia longipalpis: Theodor 1965: 181; Forattini 1973: 213; Young & Duncan 1994: 56. Literature records in Uruguay. Salomón et al. (2011). Salto, Departamento de Salto; Bella Unión, Departamento de Artigas. Satragno et al. (2017). Arenitas Blancas, Salto. Remarks. This species is the main vector of visceral leishmaniasis in America. The first autochthonous canine record of the disease in Uruguay occurred in 2015 in the northern part of the territory (Satragno et al. 2017).
