Abstract

La pudrici��n negra del fruto causada por Phytophthora spp. es una de las enfermedades m��s importantes de Theobroma cacao en Cuba y en el mundo. Los m��todos de control m��s usados son los qu��micos, que resultan costosos y da��inos al medioambiente. El uso de microorganismos eficientes en la bioprotecci��n del cacao contra este pat��geno brinda una nueva alternativa en la prevenci��n y control de la enfermedad. En el presente trabajo se estableci�� una metodolog��a para la obtenci��n de plantas de T. cacao por v��a biotecnol��gica con respuestas de defensa ante Phytophthora palmivora inducidas por Pseudomonas chlororaphis cepa CP07, antagonista microbiano aislado de plantas de cacao en Baracoa. La metodolog��a contribuye a mejorar la propagaci��n y conservaci��n de germoplasma con un novedoso m��todo de microinjerto in vitro de yemas. Se obtienen plantas con mayor resistencia sist��mica al pat��geno mediante el pre-tratamiento con la cepa bacteriana lo que contribuye a disminuir las afectaciones ocasionadas por la plaga. Se demostr�� por primera vez el efecto de P. chlororaphis en la bioprotecci��n de T. cacao ante P. palmivora en genotipos de cacao tradicional cubano. Se realiza un aporte al conocimiento de la diversidad gen��tica del agroecosistema cacaotero en cuanto a las interacciones planta-pat��geno-microorganismo eficiente. La aplicaci��n de P. chlororaphis en la bioprotecci��n de T. cacao ante P. palmivora, contribuir��a a la producci��n sostenible de cacao en Cuba a partir de su incorporaci��n a la estrategia de manejo integral de esta plaga.
