Psychodidae This worldwide family of Psychodomorpha contains 3,087 species (Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani’s first publication (1840a) is devoted entirely to Phlebotomus papatasi (Scopoli, 1786) followed by his description of two Palaearctic and one Neotropical nominal species (Rondani 1843f, 1856, 1863). Two are currently considered as valid, one as doubtful (Duckhouse 1973, Wagner 1990, Dahl et al. 1995, Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Saccà (1947) examined the MZUF types of Hebotomus minutus Rondani, 1843 without publishing any lectotype designation. The type material is distributed among the OUMNH (two), MZUN (one) and MZUF (one).
