Bartsia trixago Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 602. 1753. "Habitat in Italiae maritimis, humentibus." RCN: 4375. Basionym of: Rhinanthus trixago (L.) L. (1759). Lectotype (Molau in Opera Bot. 102: 27. 1990): Herb. Burser XIV(1): 36 (UPS). Current name: Bartsia trixago L. (Scrophulariaceae). Note: Although Qaiser (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 88: 40. 1982) indicated 758.3 (LINN) as type, it carries no annotation by Linnaeus to link it with this name, and also came from Eastern Asia which is at variance with the stated Italian provenance of the species. It is not original material for the name.
