Abstract

El presente artículo intenta recuperar información dispersa acerca de la minería del Norte Chico, la que fue muy importante durante los siglos XIX y XX. Actualmente el pueblo de La Higuera busca en el turismo una nueva fuente de ingreso, mientras que el mineral de hierro El Tofo, que durante el siglo XX constituyó el principal yacimiento de ese metal en Chile, hoy es casi un recuerdo.
