VARIAÇÃO SAZONAL DO BIGUÁ (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) NA PRAIA DA ILHA COMPRIDA, LITORAL SUL DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO

Abstract

O Biguá (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) é uma espécie brasileira com aproximadamente 75 cm de comprimento e peso de 1,3 Kg (1). São aves aquáticas do porte de um pato, pertence à ordem Pelecaniforme, da família Phalacrocoracidae (2). Esta espécie está presente em todo o Brasil e desde de o sul dos Estados Unidos até a extremidade da América do Sul (3). Habita lagos, grandes rios e estuários (2), encontrada na praia da Ilha Comprida (SP), utilizando a costa para alimentação e descanso. Segundo Henriques (1993) (4), o Biguá nidifica sobre árvores em matas alagadas, sarandizais e ás vezes entre colônias de garças. O Phalacrocorax brasilianus alimenta-se de peixes e crustáceos e, para capturar suas presas mergulha a partir da superfície da água e submerso persegue-as. Os pés e os bicos têm função primordial na perseguição e captura (3). Esta ave foi encontra na praia da Ilha Comprida durante quase todas as estações, apresentando um pico no verão e desaparecendo no inverno. Este trabalho teve como objetivo coletar dados sobre a permanência e abundância da espécie Phalacrocorax brasilianus na praia da Ilha Comprida, Litoral Sul do Estado de São Paulo
