Abstract

Los episodios de nevadas sobrevenidas y olas de frío extremo, aunque poco frecuentes en entornos urbanos, pueden generar situaciones de alta complejidad operativa para los servicios de emergencias sanitarias. La alteración repentina de la movilidad, la pérdida de accesibilidad a determinadas zonas, el incremento de caídas y traumatismos, así como el riesgo de hipotermia tanto en pacientes como en intervinientes, obligan a adaptar los procedimientos habituales de actuación a un escenario extraordinario. El presente documento tiene como objetivo proporcionar una visión práctica y realista sobre la preparación, la actuación y la adopción de medidas extraordinarias en nevadas y olas de frío, centrada en los servicios de emergencias sanitarias que operan en entornos urbanos. No pretende sustituir los protocolos asistenciales existentes, sino complementarlos, aportando criterios de autoprotección, adaptación operativa y gestión eficiente de los recursos, con el fin último de garantizar la seguridad del interviniente y la continuidad asistencial incluso en condiciones adversas.
