Abstract

La química arqueológica se ocupa del análisis químico de las pruebas materiales obtenidas en los yacimientos arqueológicos. Recientemente, ha crecido hasta incluir materiales orgánicos, biológicos e inorgánicos. El análisis de cerámicas, pigmentos, textiles, materiales de construcción y desechos en contextos arqueológicos contribuyen a la reconstrucción histórica. La interacción entre química y arqueología, por extraño que parezca, rara vez se destaca como un campo de estudio separado, sino que se expresa en cada proceso de elucidación y restauración de fragmentos de investigación arqueológica. Este ensayo describe y discute principalmente la relación entre la química y la arqueología, y la importancia de sus técnicas experimentales, con el fin de obtener la máxima información sobre los diversos materiales que constituyen el patrimonio arqueológico universal. A pesar de que se trata de un área de investigación transdisciplinaria.
