AI governance around the world: European Union is part of the the AI governance around the world project which seeks to map the evolving governance landscape through a series of country profiles based on a consistent framework. Each profile provides a descriptive overview of a jurisdiction’s approach to AI regulation and standardisation, highlighting the high-level aims and principles, definitions of relevant technologies, key policy initiatives and the main features of the respective standardisation systems. Drawing exclusively on primary sources, the country profiles analyse legal and policy instruments, national strategies, standardisation initiatives, and public investments that reflect the varied and evolving approaches that different jurisdictions are taking to AI governance.
