El cariotipo de Ennealophus fimbriatus (Iridaceae)

Abstract

The somatic chromosomes of Ennealophus fimbriatus Ravenna were examined by classical staining for the first time. The number 2n=14 was found and the resulting karyotype formula was 6 m + 1 sm*. Macrosatellites were detected attached to the short arm, at the sm pair. The total genome length was 21.23 ± 2.19 m, while the asymmetry indices were A1 = 0.221 and A2 = 0.717, and indicates that the karyotype is bimodal.
