Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching strategy to evaluate the effectiveness of the Van Hiele model in learning the derivative in students of a private university in Lima. The methodology is based on a quantitative approach, applied type and quasi-experimental design, in a sample of 80 students. A satisfaction survey is used to evaluate the students' perception of the teaching strategy, as well as two pedagogical tests that evaluate the mathematical skills of communication and argumentation, modeling and representation, and problem solving. The mean, median, mode, standard deviation and variance were used as statisticians to measure the descriptive results and the Student's T test for the inferential results. Concluding, that the application of the didactic strategy using the Van Hiele model significantly improves the learning of the derivative in students at a university in Lima.
