A computer system that can browse, search, and retrieve images from a sizable collection of digital photos is known as an image retrieval system. The majority of conventional and widely used image retrieval techniques involve some form of metadata addition, such as captioning, keywords, title, or description, to the images in order to execute retrieval over the annotation words. Many studies have been conducted on automatic picture annotation in an effort to overcome the time-consuming, costly, and labor-intensive nature of manual image annotation. Additionally, a number of web-based picture annotation tools have been developed as a result of the growth of social web apps and the semantic web.
