
Resumo Este artigo propõe uma análise teórica do conceito de biofilia de Edward Osborne Wilson, enfocando a predisposição genética e evolutiva das pessoas para os processos naturais e o contato com a natureza. A pesquisa examina como esses elementos se conectam com o hibridismo cultural, arte e design, influenciando as relações sociais nos espaços urbanos, com especial atenção à cidade de São Paulo. Destacamos as desigualdades sociais presentes na cidade e os benefícios potenciais que a natureza oferece nas áreas urbanas. Reconhecemos o papel crucial da arte e do design como elementos fundamentais nesse contexto, visando ampliar a compreensão da interação entre seres humanos e o ambiente urbano. Abstract This article proposes an theoretical analysis of Edward Osborne Wilson's concept of biophilia, focusing on people's genetic and evolutionary predisposition towards natural processes and contact with nature. The research examines how these elements connect with cultural hybridism, art and design, influencing social relations in urban spaces, with special attention to the city of São Paulo. We highlight the social inequalities present in the city and the potential benefits that nature offers in urban areas. We recognize the crucial role of art and design as fundamental elements in this context, aiming to expand the understanding of the interaction between human beings and the urban environment.
