Abstract

Os alimentos têm potencial de interação com medicamentos e a ingestão simultânea de ambos pode impactar significativamente na farmacoterapia. Essas interações droga-alimento nem sempre são específicas e potencialmente alteram a farmacocinética e/ou a farmacodinâmica dos medicamentos. Os alimentos podem desencadear efeitos positivos ou negativos, a partir de interações em diferentes etapas do fármaco no organismo. As diferentes características físico-químicas dos alimentos, conferem potencial de interação com os fármacos. O bioma amazônico confere às frutas da região sabores exóticos e potencial econômico, destacando-se especialmente o cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum Schum), rica em polpa, amplamente consumida na Amazônia na forma de bebidas e doces. Foi desenvolvida uma revisão de literatura sobre as propriedades nutricionais do cupuaçu, identificando potenciais interações fármaco-nutriente e as respectivas implicações no efeito terapêutico dos fármacos. As evidências encontradas indicam que as características dos produtos derivados do cupuaçu representam as maiores interações, especialmente associadas ao pH ácido da fruta in natura e de seus derivados. Para neutralizar ou utilizar as interações fármaco-alimento de maneira positiva, deve-se conhecer profundamente tais interações, que ainda precisam ser completamente elucidadas, aliadas a uma abordagem multiprofissional da equipe de saúde para ajustar a prescrição dietética e a farmacoterapêutica.
