Abstract

A afasia de expressão é um distúrbio da linguagem causado por lesões cerebrais, sendo uma das consequências mais comuns em pacientes que tiveram um Acidente Vascular Cerebral (AVC). Nesse contexto, a fonoterapia se apresenta como um importante recurso terapêutico para reabilitar a comunicação oral desses pacientes. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste artigo é discutir os benefícios da fonoterapia em pacientes com afasia de expressão pós AVC. Para alcançar esse objetivo, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura a partir de fontes bibliográficas especializadas e estudos científicos recentes. Foram abordadas as principais características da afasia de expressão, suas causas e os mecanismos cerebrais envolvidos, bem como os aspectos da fonoterapia voltada para esse tipo de afasia. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que a fonoterapia é uma estratégia terapêutica altamente eficaz no processo de reabilitação da linguagem em pacientes com afasia de expressão pós AVC. Através de técnicas específicas, como a estimulação dos músculos faciais e da respiração, além da utilização de jogos e atividades voltadas para a produção da fala, é possível promover melhorias significativas na comunicação oral desses pacientes. Com base nos resultados encontrados, pode-se concluir que a fonoterapia é um recurso indispensável na reabilitação de pacientes com afasia de expressão pós AVC, contribuindo para sua inclusão social e melhora da qualidade de vida. Portanto, a fonoterapia deve ser considerada como uma das principais abordagens terapêuticas nesses casos, pois traz benefícios significativos para a recuperação da comunicação oral dos pacientes com afasia de expressão pós AVC.
