La disyuntiva de la sustentabilidad urbana en la era del Capitaloceno

Abstract

El presente documento presenta una reflexión crítica sobre el concepto de ‘sustentabilidad urbana’. Para ello, se parte de un análisis teórico en torno al concepto de ‘sustentabilidad’ y al sistema social imperante, con el objetivo de ampliar el enfoque sobre las bases en las que descansa la amplitud de la crisis actual, a fin de plantear alternativas con suficiente profundidad y perspectiva que puedan hacer frente a las situaciones complejas que enfrenta la sociedad contemporánea. Posteriormente, se evalúan las implicaciones de esta concepción crítica en relación con el desarrollo de las ciudades y se profundiza en postulados que plantean una relación distinta de los seres humanos con la tierra, para ser trasladados a la cuestión urbana. Como resultado, se proponen cinco ejes de actuación para la conformación de un proyecto de transformación ecosocial en la ciudad. En ellos subyacen tanto las limitaciones impuestas por el orden social imperante como las posibilidades de lucha que requiere el proyecto emancipatorio en cuestión, para reimaginar las ciudades como entornos capaces de albergar modos de vida sustentables.
