Nearshoring y el sector automotriz de México

Abstract

Este capítulo tiene como objetivo analizar el desempeño del sector automotriz de México en el actual contexto de la restructuración de las cadenas globales de suministro (CGS) en el marco de la reciente y renovada ola del nearshoring. Para cumplir tal propósito se revisa literatura especializada sobre el tema, información oficial del INEGI, Banxico, Secretaría de Economía, el Gobierno de México, análisis y estadísticas de organismos multilaterales como el BID y el Banco Mundial, y análisis de entidades privadas como la Asociación Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (amia), S&P Global Mobility, BBVA Research, CEEG, ampip, entre otras. La industria automotriz de México (IAM) tiene un crecimiento cíclico que se contrae debido a las crisis, como las de 2009 y del COVID-19. La reestructuración de las cadenas globales de valor y de las CGS conlleva grandes oportunidades para continuar en la senda de expansión de la IAM; sin embargo, el Gobierno tiene un papel central en el desarrollo de una estrategia integral encauzada a impulsar el crecimiento de dicho sector.
