Factores del metabolismo social en la actividad alfarera de Metepec, México

Abstract

El estudio del metabolismo social permite comprender e identificar por medio del análisis del flujo de materia y energía las relaciones sociales emergentes; sin embargo, un factor que en la mayoría de los casos queda relegado es la dimensión social de las relaciones simbólicas (González y Toledo, 2014). En el caso de la actividad alfarera de Metepec, ha sido posible identificar una serie de factores económicos, políticos, socioculturales y ambientales que inciden en la elaboración y pervivencia de la alfarería en la realidad actual. Por ello, este capítulo se ha planteado analizar los factores contextuales del metabolismo social de la actividad artesanal alfarera en Metepec, con la finalidad de comprender la situación actual y los desafíos que enfrenta para su continuidad. Para ello, se realizó una investigación documental diacrónica y sincrónica sobre los factores contextuales de la actividad artesanal, como el devenir de la alfarería, las representaciones culturales y saberes de ésta, aunado a la dinámica socioeconómica y a las condiciones físicas de su entorno. Se concluye que los factores intangibles han condicionado la forma en que se lleva a cabo el uso de la materia y energía dentro del metabolismo social de la actividad alfarera. Por lo anterior, se han identificado algunos de los factores que enmarcan la actividad y que sientan las bases para un análisis cualitativo que explique su desarrollo a lo largo del tiempo y la forma en que ha pervivido a pesar de los cambios socioterritoriales acontecidos a lo largo del proceso histórico del municipio.
