Transformaciones de fase en una aleación Al-Mg-Si

Abstract

Las aleaciones Al-Mg-Si son utilizadas ampliamente en la industria de la construcción, automotriz y aeroespacial dada su baja densidad, alta resistencia mecánica y buena formabilidad. Esta es la razón por la que vienen siendo fuertemente estudiadas desde la década del 60, con el mayor interés puesto en obtener un comportamiento óptimo. Los aspectos de alto valor académico están lejos de haberse analizado en forma exhaustiva, en cuanto a condiciones de formación de las distintas fases, cinética de formación, rangos de estabilidad, influencia de defectos, etc. El tratamiento de los temas señalados conforma esta tesis. Se presenta un estudio experimental detallado y sistemático de la formación de fases metaestables (incluyendo conglomerados) en una aleación Al-Mg-Si (AW – 6082 (Alcoa Europa). Mediante tratamientos térmicos de envejecimiento isotérmico y no-isotérmico se indujeron las distintas fases, estudiando la nucleación y crecimiento, los procesos difusivos involucrados, la contribución de vacancias y dislocaciones, el efecto de pre-tratamientos y la estabilidad relativa de las fases. Las técnicas utilizadas son Calorimetría Diferencial de Barrido, determinaciones de Microdureza Vickers, Resistometría eléctrica, ensayos de Tracción, Microscopía.
