
portuguesNo presente artigo, procede-se a uma analise de algumas passagens da Rerum Gestarum (XXI, 16; XXV, 4), de Amiano Marcelino, e de Historias (VII, 28; VIl, 29; VII, 30), de Orosio, com o objetivo de comparar as cosmovisoes crista e paga que povoam as duas obras enquanto textos historiograficos, ao mesmo tempo em que falam do conflito de paradigmas existentes, em uma epoca em que o mundo mediterrânico estava rachado em duas humanidades, uma crista e outra fiel a tradicao classica. Foram escolhidas passagens suscetiveis a comparacao, por tratarem, em ambos historiadores, de julgamentos sinteticos das figuras dos imperadores do seculo IV. Ao julgarem a personalidade e os feitos desses imperadores que lhes sao quase contemporâneos ou os antecederam em algumas decadas. Amiano, na perspectiva paga, e Orosio, do ponto de vista cristao, recorrem aos valores mais marcantes dos respectivos universos mentais da epoca. EnglishThis article seeks to analyze some passages of Rerum Gestarum (XXI, 16; XXV, 4), by Ammianus Marcelinus, and Histories (VII 28; VII, 29; VII, 30), by Orosio, intending to compare their judgements on the personality and actions of the emperors of the fourth century a. D. It's possible to identity the christian and pagan Weltanschaaungen in both historiographic works. These paradigms point out to the conflict between the two different cosmovisions that divided the mediterranean world into two pieces.
