Biotapetes de manantiales mineromedicinales: aplicaciones en dermatología y cosmética

Abstract

La dermatologia y la cosmetica termal han alcanzado en los ultimos anos un exito considerable, asociado a las nuevas tecnologias y los progresos cientificos. Los biotapetes (peloides y gleinas) poseen interesantes propiedades con numerosos beneficios en la terapeutica con productos naturales, aunque algunas aplicaciones comerciales carecen de una justificacion cientifica adecuada. Mediante metodos de cultivo, bioquimicos, biologia molecular y microscopia optica, confocal y electronica se han caracterizado los biotapetes de distintos manantiales mineromedicinales de los balnearios Cervantes (Ciudad Real) y El Raposo (Badajoz) (aguas bicarbonatadas); Carratraca (Malaga) y Alhama de Granada (aguas sulfatadas). Los bicarbonatados presentan mas diatomeas (Navicula, Fragilaria, Synedra); y los sulfatados bacterias del azufre (Beggiatoa, Thiothrix). Ambos tipos tienen algas verdes (Cosmarium), cianobacterias (Oscillatoria, Lyngbya, Gleocapsa), bacterias fototrofas verdes (Chloflexus) y bacterias anaerobias fototrofas purpuras (Rhodomicrobium) y las sulfatoreductoras. Se han encontrado microorganismos no-cultivables que indican la posible existencia de nuevas especies. Su aplicacion en terapeutica dermatologica y dermocosmetica constituye una prometedora perspectiva de futuro.
