Fictions created by Hayao Miyazaki offer women representation that is far from gender stereotypes. Their heroines are strong and independent, hard-workers and they fight over what to believe. However, these productions are more than an emancipated female image. They are an example of cultural resistance that promote a society model where there is not domination over subaltern groups and the nature. On the contrary, they can be read from an perspective based on sustainability of life, that recognize the interdependence and ecodependence between human beings. From an intersectional perspective and using the qualitative content analysis, this article analyze Miyazaki´s films taking into account the link between heroism, female role, the level of environmental degradation and social conflict. This study finds that the normative subject has fallen down to construct a world fit to live in, fair and viable for everyone. Miyazaki´s animation tells us that it is time to experience from other values and other players.
