Abstract

Se estudian, a través de la cultura escrita, aspectos del proceso de disciplinamiento social en Córdoba del Tucumán durante los siglos XVII y XVIII.Dentro del paradigma de la confesionalización observamos cómo la escritura sirvió al poder monárquico y eclesiástico para buscar legitimación social con la generación de dispositivos eficaces que aquí analizamos: concretamente, los edictos de la Inquisición y las tablillas de excomunión. En Córdoba, los agentes considerados en el estudio son variados, desde el gobernador y el obispo hasta curas y regidores, pasando por alcaldes y provisores en sede vacante.En la llamada “pedagogía del miedo”, la escritura fue un contundente vehículo utilizado por ambos poderes —a veces en pugna—, para disciplinar tanto a elites como a sectores populares, alfabetizados o analfabetos, para uniformar y poner conformidad religiosa a los habitantes; proceso imposible de llevar a cabo sin visibilidad y presencia en el espacio público. Es allí donde la escritura expuesta tuvo un papel central.
