Abstract

La fotografía de prensa tiene un importante valor documental. Es un valioso medio de representación para la comunicación y el periodismo, pero también para la configuración de la memoria sobre el pasado. En los procesos de construcción de los discursos de memoria generados a través de la fotografía es importante incluir las memorias invisibilizadas, como es el de caso de las mujeres. A través del estudio de las fotografías sobre dos fechas clave para el feminismo, el 8 de marzo (Día Internacional de las Mujeres) y el 25 de noviembre (Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra las Mujeres) publicadas en el diario El País desde 1977 hasta 2024, se pretende reconstruir la memoria visual del activismo feminista español haciendo hincapié en el repertorio iconográfico y simbólico presente en las fotografías y que constituyen la identidad colectiva tanto de estas fechas como del feminismo español. Poner en relación las distintas fotografías de prensa sobre estas efemérides a lo largo de 47 años permite visibilizar las experiencias de las mujeres y del activismo feminista, alejadas de las memorias hegemónicas construidas desde la historia y los medios, donde las mujeres, o bien no han estado, o han sido infrarrepresentadas.
