Abstract

La interpretación sobre la dinámica sociocultural de las comunidades del III milenio a.C. en la región montañosa del Subbético del sur de la península ibérica, aunque formulada desde posiciones teóricas contrastadas, ha coincidido en la perspectiva marginal, perteneciente a una periferia geográfica y social cuyo centro está en el Sureste y el valle del Guadalquivir. Las recientes intervenciones en dos nuevos recintos amurallados de la Edad del Cobre culminan una investigación que había partido del aprovechamiento intensivo de los recursos líticos. Ello permite abordar dicha dinámica desde nuevas evidencias. Se parte del análisis del asentamiento prehistórico de Villavieja (Algarinejo, Granada), abordando su génesis, desarrollo y colapso, así como la construcción de su muralla, excepcionalmente bien conservada por su extension y altura, lo que nos permite abordar la tecnología aplicada. Villavieja, junto con el yacimiento de Pedriza de Cartuja (Montillana-Colomera, Granada), situados dentro de la misma región montañosa, comienzan a vislumbrar nuevas perspectivas de un panorama más complejo a las interpretaciones tradicionales sobre las poblaciones megalíticas de la región montañosa del Subbético del sur de la Península Ibérica.
