Finalidad, función y telicidad: la información télica y su relación con artefactos, instrumentos y objetos auxiliares

Abstract

El objeto de este trabajo es abordar la delimitación del término rasgo télico, que la bibliografía clásica sobre aspecto usa para definir los verbos delimitados y la moderna semántica léxica reserva para caracterizar los nombres con función o finalidad. Analizaremos el ámbito que cubre ese término con el enfoque del Lexicón Generativo y el de las funciones léxicas de la Teoría Sentido-Texto. Defendemos que rasgo télico y quale télico aluden a conceptos diferentes aunque se solapan en ciertos predicados. Revisamos la naturaleza de los nombres de artefacto, entre los que la bibliografía precedente distingue los de quale télico directo, indirecto y de implicación. Reconocemos la existencia de dos grandes conjuntos de objetos: objetos naturales, con rasgo de ‘utilidad’ y quale télico débil; y objetos artificiales (artefactos en la terminología clásica), para los que proponemos la siguiente tipología: a) artefactos (puros), con rasgo de ‘finalidad’ y quale télico directo; b) instrumentos, con rasgo de ‘función’ y quale télico indirecto; y c) objetos auxiliares, con rasgo de ‘finalidad’ y quale télico de contribución.
