Las Ninfas y Dioniso

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende estudiar las fuentes en las que Dioniso y las Ninfas se entrecruzan y analizar una serie de prodigios en los que ambos toman parte. En la literatura y la iconografía griegas las Ninfas aparecen como nodrizas de Dioniso y, una vez terminada la crianza, se convierten en sus fieles seguidoras, es decir, las ménades y bacantes que celebran sus ritos en plena naturaleza, danzando y corriendo por las montañas en su compañía. La identificación de las Ninfas con el agua y la de Dioniso con el vino vehicula la imagen de las Ninfas que hacen crecer al dios, lo suavizan y atemperan, tal y como hace el agua con el vino. En Haliarto, Naxos y Nicea las Ninfas y Dioniso son partícipes de prodigios en los que una corriente de agua se transforma o toma la apariencia del vino. Los milagros se producen, por lo general, coincidiendo con fiestas dionisíacas y todos ellos guardan vinculación con el matrimonio.
